Pay Equity Plan Review and Development

The Ontario Pay Equity Act emerged more than 15 years ago. The legislation impacts most private and public sector employers with 10 or more employees. The purpose of the legislation is to address systematic discrimination in pay.

It’s not uncommon for organizations to be in violation of the Act; many don’t maintain their plans and some think that the government removed the requirement to comply with the Act years ago. The fact is that organizations confuse pay equity with employment equity, which was abandoned. Today, businesses still have legal compliance obligations under the Pay Equity Act.
