Robert (Bob) J. McDowall, Sr. Consultant & Advisor

Bob McDowallBob McDowall is recognized in the human resources consulting field as the leading specialist in compensation and pay equity. He brings a 30-year track record of success to his clients.

In addition to running his own business for 14 years, Bob has led the human resources practices in many national and international consulting firms including Stevenson and Kellogg, Coopers and Lybrand, Sedgwick Noble Lowndes, KPMG and most recently with Watson Wyatt. Over his career, he has worked with more than 500 private and public sector clients.

Pay Equity Specialist

As a specialist in developing, implementing and negotiating pay equity plans in unionized and non-unionized environments; Bob is a recognized expert in job evaluation by Ontario’s Pay Equity Hearings Tribunal and has testified as an expert witness.

Compensation Leader

Bob is also an industry authority on compensation and salary administration. He develops incentive and share option plans targeted at specific performance results, creates new sales compensation approaches, and designs tailored reward and pay programs. He also helps clients with executive compensation programs, competency-based programs and pay-for-performance plans.

Education / Awards

Bob is both a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP). The World at Work Association recently presented him with a lifetime achievement award recognizing his compensation expertise. He is also a popular guest lecturer at a variety of university level courses, industry events and client-based venues.

Bob recently completed writing a book tentatively titled, “Engaging Employees in a Thriving Organization: Secrets from a Veteran Consultant”, which is based on his experiences and observations throughout his consulting career.
