Our company’s roots were first established 18 years ago in Toronto. Our founding principal, Bob McDowall, saw a need in the market to provide job evaluation and compensation expertise to meet the requirements of the newly enacted Ontario Pay Equity Legislation.
After building a successful company, Bob merged his consulting practice in 1996 with Sedgwick Noble Lowndes, an international pension and benefits consulting firm. Driven by his passion to help small to mid-sized organizations, Bob reestablished McDowall Associates in 2002.
Today, McDowall Associates has evolved into a specialized human resources consulting firm focusing on pay equity plan review and development, job evaluation and the creation of compensation and incentive plans. In addition to our diverse range of public and private sector clients, we have a solid track record in dealing with municipalities and health care organizations.
Our Philosophy
We’re not the biggest human resources consulting firm, but we like to think that we’re the best. Why? Because we genuinely care about our clients’ success. We work with you as a trusted partner. In fact, we base our business on forging strong relationships with our clients. Through our hands-on approach, we are able to provide our clients with expedient solutions that meet their goals and fit their budget.
All of our Consultants are salaried, full time professionals. We believe
that this sets us apart from most firms, many of which use part time,
contracted or independent consultants.
Our People
Our consultants are skilled professionals that bring a rare breadth and depth of expertise to the human resources industry. We are conversant in dealing with all levels and structures of an organization and have extensive experience in union negotiations. We also understand the inner workings of Boards and Councils and the sensitivities that come with layers of authority in complex business structures.
