Susan is a Senior Consultant with more than 10 years of experience in the human resources consulting industry who brings specialized knowledge of compensation and benefit programs to client assignments.

Prior to joining McDowall Associates, Susan was a Consultant with Watson Wyatt’s Human Capital Group. She worked closely with Senior Consultants in developing compensation management systems, including job evaluation design and modeling, pay equity, market comparisons, compensation design, as well as in conducting custom compensation and benefit surveys. In addition, Susan worked with Consultants in other practices on organizational measurement and performance management projects.

Prior to joining Watson Wyatt, Susan was a Benefits Analyst/Associate Consultant with the Hay Group. Her role encompassed cost valuation and market prevalence information on employee benefit programs.


Compensation Specialist

Susan’s expertise includes a strong foundation of analytical, research and technical skills which have supported total compensation design projects for a wide variety of clients in a broad range of industries, including health care, financial services, manufacturing and consumer products, as well as work with municipalities.

During her career, Susan has developed, recommended and implemented compensation structures that are internally and externally competitive based on job evaluation and pay data. Susan has trained, facilitated and participated on Job Evaluation Committees for clients. Further, she has developed and conducted custom salary surveys for a wide spectrum of industries.


Susan holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Actuarial Science and Statistics from the University of Western Ontario. She also has her Certified Compensation Professional designation and is a member of the WorldatWork Association.
